Camp USA RV Road Trip: Tennessee

Summer vacation may seem like a distant thought since 2016 has just started, but when it comes to vacation it is never to early to plan. Although Florida offers incredible landscapes, Speedways, Disney World and family friendly areas to camp with your RV, Tennessee is the summer road trip we had in mind.

Tennessee is a great vacation spot due to the wide range of actives and areas. Whether you want to get your country line dancing on in downtown Nashville or escape to the scenic Smokey Mountains, Tennessee offers it all.

Nashville

Downtown Nashville is the place to go for a great time and incredible music. Since it is known as Music City it comes as no surprise that it is home to sights like the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Johnny Cash Museum, but that isn’t all that Nashville has to offer.

Grand Ole Opry. Originally a radio show in the 1920’s Grand Ole Opry is the sole reason Nashville is the center for country music stars. The venue has housed thousands of performers since its’ debut and is where legends have taken the stage and made country music history. How can you be a part of the history on your summer vacation? See a show or take a tour of the historic venue with family and see where some of countries biggest names prepare for their sets in the iconic Grand Ole Opry.

Tootsies. Once you hit the main street in downtown Nashville there are plenty of shops to stop in, cowboy boots to buy and live music from singer songwriters looking to make a splash. Where are the best spots to go? Tootsies is one of the most famous bars in the country, known as the original honky tonk. So many names in country have graced their small stage before their fame including artists like Willie Nelson and Patsy Cline and today Tootsies is as popular as ever. Tootsies is open 10AM-3AM so be sure to stop by and you might luck out and catch a set by a few country music stars in the area!

Percy Warner Park. Now if you want a little respite from the Nashville crowds, consider taking your RV 20-30 minutes outside of downtown to Warner Parks. The beautiful scenery sits on nearly 3000 acres of forest. You can hike, drive or bike through the 11 mile winding path and enjoy the incredible overlooks and wildlife Nashville has to offer.

Known for its incredible scenery and as a summer vacation spot in Tennessee, we wanted to bring your attention to Gatlinburg which borders the Great Smoky Mountains. Surrounded by beautiful mountain ridges Gatlinburg is a serene location that offers plenty to do for an active family.

Great Smokey Mountains National Park. One of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, this national part offers a diverse look into animal and plant life of the area and the remnants of the southern appellation mountain and its’ history. Along with the hiking and biking available, take your family to witness natural waterfalls, ranger led programs or even book an action packed rafting trip for the adventurers in your RV.

Wild Bear Falls Indoor Waterpark. Now this a great family excursion for your summer vacation. Wild Bear Falls is a mountain themed indoor water park equipped with great water slides for all ages, a water-themed tree house and everyone’s favorite lazy river. The semi-supervised park allows parents to relax by the pools with the kids close by. With more than 60,000 square feet of heated water, Wild Bear is a great option for your family year round, but in summertime it will be a nice retreat to enjoy on those hot days.

Gatlinburg Space Needle. Gatlinburg, Tennessee is home to an incredible glass elevator that travels 400 feet upwards toward the sky. Once you’ve stopped at the top you can step out and view the Great Smoky Mountains without obstructions. The panoramic view will allow you to take in Mount LeConte, the tallest mountain in the Eastern US. Along with the breath taking sights the Gatlinburg Space Needle now offers info on the cities own history and of course the Smoky mountains. Bringing a camera is a must as this will be a picture perfect opportunity to get your summer vacation photo!
